The story of my cookbooks

When I acquired my disability, I naturally took my professional expertise and poured it into solving the impacts on my personal life. I focused on making everyday life easier, saving time and energy for the important people and fun times in life. My initial focus was on efficient and adaptive cooking with the Tefal iCompanion, for which I’ve since published two cookbooks, collaborated with Tefal, had my book be a gift with purchase and it appear on TVSN shopping channel.

The story of my books:

I bought my Tefal® Cuisine Companion in May 2015, just a few weeks after its Australian launch. I invested in a Companion to help take the load off cooking meals as I have auto-immune arthritis and I struggled to chop, stir or stand for even short periods of time. I was no longer cooking from scratch and wanted to get back to providing healthy family meals. Out of necessity, I used the Companion exclusively in place of my pots and pans and experimented with more and more ways to make my everyday life easier. I hit gold one day, adding pasta to my Bolognese sauce, creating an all-in-one meal with only 5 minutes spent in the kitchen. I shared the recipe on Facebook, receiving such wonderful feedback that it’s become a regular favourite in many households. When I opened up my new Companion I didn’t know where to start and what its true capabilities were. I soon learned that many others had the same questions as I did. What to cook first? What does ‘maxi’ on the stopper mean? How do I cook my rice at the same time as my curry? People needed a ‘how to’ guide, and so the concept for my book was born.
