Got questions about converting recipes to the Cuisine Companion?
Join the new Shine with your Cuisine Companion Facebook group
As a relatively new machine to the market, there are a limited number of specific Tefal Cuisine Companion ( #TefalCC or CC for short!) recipes, especially compared to the 1000s of Thermomix ones around. The majority of these recipes can easily be converted and made beautifully in the CC. I originally shared this with in the Facebook group and following the incredible success people had, I decided to share further. Keep an eye on this page as I will update the guide as I discover new tricks or settings. All the recipes that I have explicitly converted can be found here along with all my own CC recipes. If you are after specific CC recipes I suggest you check out my Essential Guide and cookbook for the Cuisine Companion.

Happy converting!
Thermomix to Tefal Cuisine Companion Conversion Guide
Thermomix | Cuisine Companion |
---|---|
Butterfly | If for whipping use whisk e.g. Custard. If for stirring use the mixer blade e.g. Curry |
Chopping onions / vegetables | TMX recipes often have a 2 step process for chopping the garlic or ginger and then the onion or vegetable. In the #TefalCC it's best to combine these two steps to get sufficient volume. Ignore the first step and then using the instructions for the onion (or vegetable) step, Ultrablade / Speed - add 4 / Double time / insert steam basket to stop the food flying up. Pausing half way and scraping down will help get a more even result. |
Interval speed | Speed 2 |
MC off | Stopper out. TIP if contents is likely to splatter, place steaming basket on top of lid |
MC on | Stopper in. On Maxi steam if want to keep liquid in food or Mini steam if what to reduce very slightly. |
Milling nuts | Crushing blade / Speed - Pulse / Triple time / insert and line the steaming basket. |
Milling spice mixes / sugar | Crushing blade / Speed - Pulse / Double time / insert and line the steaming basket. Works better in double (or more) batches. |
Slowest speed | Speed 3 |
Smoothies | Crushing blade / Speed - add 2 / Half the time. Then Speed - Pulse for remaining time. For a smoother result make in double batches. |
Speed | Add 2 |
Spoon speed / reverse | Mixer blade / Speed 3 |
Steaming food inside bowl | Use 700ml water independent of recipe. Note rice can not be steamed in the CC basket. |
Time | Identical |
Temperature | Identical |
Temperature - Varoma / steaming | 120C |
Transfer to thermoserver | Keep warm function. This is the default at the end of slow cook programs. |
Varoma | The TMX Varoma is an external multilayered steaming tray. One for #TefalCC will be available in Mid 2016. Until then these recipes can prove more difficult to convert. |

Excellent taken the guesswork out thank you
These are delicious. Not overly sweet and was surprised at how large they were. Youngest grandson was here with me and was trying to choose the biggest one, then wanted another!!! Thank you so much for the recipe Karen. Have directed my daughter to your blog for the recipe which I know she will make for the grandkids. She only got her machine yesterday.
Very helpful, thank you Karen!
Found Roast Pork Belly recipe on Skinnymixers and can’t wait to receive my attachments so I can try this recipe out. This is all so new for me and thank you so much for the convert guide.
So pleased there is a guide to help me convert all the Tenina, Skinnymixers and other recipe books I’ve collected along the way. Thank you so much!
This conversion chart has made using my machine so much easier. I’ve never been much of one for following a recipe completely so adapting what I usually cook is much simpler with this. Thanks Karen
Great to have when you are starting out with tmx to cc recipes.
I’ve been using Karen’s conversion chart since I purchased my CC in October. I often use recipes from the tmx community and have had success each time using this conversion chart, this makes it so much easier for me, thanks Karen!
Fantastic and thank you! I’m sure this is going to come I very handy as a newby to Thermo Cooking!
This is simply the best. Makes using the tefal machine with thermomix recipes a hassle free process. Karen you are the best – thank you so much.
I’ve got it on my fridge now. Thank you so much!
